It’s Earth Day – Share Some Responsibility For The Planet [INFOGRAPHIC]

Today is Earth Day and that got us thinking about how we could do more to take responsibility for our small part of the planet.  Did you know that if every Facebook user shortened their showers by 1 minute we’d save enough water to fill over 1 million Olympic size swimming pools. If every Twitter user shut down their computers for an hour it would be like taking over 9,000 cars off the road each year.

Here’s some more food for thought.  Special thanks to the folks at Recyclebank for putting this infographic together.

What Are The Top Business Apps for SMB?

What apps does your SMB use?  HootSuite, Facebook, Google Apps, Outlook.  These are a few of the apps most used in a poll from BestVendor of companies with less than 100 employees.

Thanks to cloud technology mobile apps are booming and small businesses are the most enthusiastic adopters.  The number of cloud apps SMB have adopted has doubled in the last year.  IDC estimates that the cloud market will grow to $56 billion by 2014.

More and more SMB are going for the inexpensive user-friendly online applications offered by Google for their business needs.  Every 14 seconds, a business signs up for Google Apps and the renewal rate is 90%.

Anatomy Of A Horrible Web Design Client [INFOGRAPHIC]

First let me say, if you’re a client of Your Social Media Company and see some of these characteristics in yourself, please laugh out loud.  It’s meant to be funny.

If you’re a web designer or web company you have to LOL at this infographic.  We’ve all had some experience with clients like this and that’s why we love ‘em.

  • Ever wait 3-5 days for an “immediate response”?
  • Ever have a client send you 20 websites they “absolutely love” as examples?
  • Think you’ll jump out of your skin if one more person tells you “I want it to pop”?
Then you’ll love this infographic.  Thanks to the folks at TopWebDesignSchools.org for putting this together.

Pinerly – We Just Got Our Invite!

Here’s How To Get Yours

A few weeks ago, we heard about a new Pinterest tool called Pinerly. Pinerly provides you the ability to track your Pinterest usage. We think Jack Welch said it best when he said “If you can’t measure, it’s just a hobby.”  So we started our quest to get an early invite.

Rick and the team @Pinerly describe the product as:

We registered on Pinerly which was as simple as entering your Pinterest username and a password to create an account.  After that you simply need to get 5 of your friends to click on the link they provide you and have them register.  Once you hit the magic number of 5 you’ll get an invite.  You’ll need to get another 5 folks to sign up for Pinerly before you get to see the bonus features.

Once we registered, we immediately posted our link to our Facebook page and Twitter.  We got our first click after a couple of minutes from our Facebook page.  Which got us a sneak peek at Pinerly.  After that we decided we’d go directly to the source and started following @Pinerly.  We sent them a direct message stating that we were interested in getting an invite and asked if they could help us out.  They told us that we could send an email to the team for an invite.

By the time we went flipped over to send an email to the team, we had received our invite without even asking since we already hit our 5 friends number.

We’re pretty excited we can now measure the results of our Pinterest efforts.  Where it was previously a manual process of tracking likes and pins we can now get those stats for each pin we make through Pinerly.

Here’s a sneak peek at Pinerly just to wet your appetite.  BTW, we just posted these 2 campaigns a minute before we started writing this blog so the numbers might be a bit low at the moment.  If you’re looking for an invite you can register here….

We’ll keep you posted on the results of our campaigns and how we like the tools.  Until you get your invite you can follow us on Pinterest here.
